Holi is an important Hindu holiday in India that is filled with colors and joy. Indian holidays are the best because they instill so much optimism in people's lives. Travelers from all over the world visit India to celebrate Holi with zeal and excitement. Musical gatherings, excitement, and a plethora of colors make this occasion very memorable. Here are some best places to celebrate Holi Festival in India. These beautiful destinations in India where you may celebrate Holi in various ways. I booked this tour from Rajasthan Tour Taxi. They provide me with the best itinerary and hotels for this tour.

  • Holi in Delhi

Delhi people go crazy during Holi and do many fun activities. Every street is filled with colors and people throw water balloons and colors on each other. There is a Holi Moo festival where you can watch Indian and international singers performing live or you can dance to Bollywood songs with your friends. It is also the best place to enjoy street food and Bhaang (Holi's special drink). Musical Holi celebrations are going on everywhere in Delhi to give you an amazing experience. Don't miss the chance to see Holi in such a good way.

  • Holi in Jaipur

Jaipur is one of the most visited cities during Holi as you can enjoy the royal and authentic experience here. Rajasthan tourism organizes many events where people can visit, interact with other people and celebrate Holi while enjoying folk dance performances, songs and much more. I have also celebrated Holi at Shahpura Haveli in Jaipur. I was really impressed with all the preparations and the hotel was really beautiful. They gave me a pair of clothes and some colors. There were many cultural programs going on. I danced a lot there and also made new friends.' Then we all enjoyed a special traditional Rajasthani lunch at Chandra Mahal. Overall my experience was great. An Elephant Festival is also organized in Jaipur where elephants, and horses are decorated and they take part in parades. It is really a great experience to see elephants participating in the competition.

  • Holi in Udaipur

Udaipur is one of my favorite places to celebrate Holi as the city is extremely beautiful. On the eve of Holi, the locals perform a ritual known as Holika Dahan and light bonfires. You can celebrate the festival at the City Palace with the Mewar royal family of Udaipur. The entire palace looks grand and the ceremony is followed by a royal band, cocktails, fireworks, and dinner. Later on the day of the festival, you will see everyone splashing colors and dancing. If you want a traditional and royal experience with lots of fun then this is the right place for you.

  • Holi in Mathura & Vrindavan

The festival of Holi is associated with the eternal love of Krishna and Radha. And to experience the traditional Holi you must be a part of the Holi celebrations in Mathura and Vrindavan where all the locals start playing Holi 40 days before the festival. Mathura is the hometown of Lord Krishna and Vrindavan is where he spent his childhood. So, devotees start playing Holi in temples, especially the Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan where they play with colours, water and flowers. The celebrations are grand and legendary. If you get a chance to celebrate Holi in this religious place then consider yourself lucky as it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It was very crowded but it was worthwhile as I got a chance to play Holi with Lord Krishna. We reached the Banke Bihari temple and the view was spectacular. The whole temple was drenched in colors and the priests were throwing flowers at all the devotees and everyone was dancing on the bhajans. My family also played with colors and had the best experience.

  • Holi in Barsana

Holi in Barsana is very famous in India because it is not only played with colors but also with sticks. Women of Barsana and other nearby villages beat men with sticks in a fun way. This is known as “Lathmar Holi”. Men protect themselves with shields. It is really a unique experience but it is not really safe for solo female travelers to celebrate Holi in Mathura. People also dance and sing spiritual songs. You can also enjoy sweets during this time.

  • Holi in Anandpur Sahib

Sikhs celebrate Holi in a completely different way and I think this makes this festival even more special and attracts many tourists at this time. Hola Mohalla is an annual fair held in Anandpur Sahib, Punjab where warriors display their martial arts, sword fighting, turban tying, etc. It is a three-day event in which people show their bravery and participate in many competitions. This is the most unique way of celebrating Holi in India. The atmosphere is very lively and colorful. Later in the evening, devotees enjoy bhajans and prasad (food) is also given.

I am very fascinated by this and will definitely come here next year with Rajasthan Tour Taxi. So choose your destination according to your choice and enjoy Holi in India. One thing is for sure you will fall in love with the culture of India.
